Presentation of System Dynamics class 2012

Final test of system dynamics class 2012 presentation is conducted today with each participants presenting their assignment of rebuilding model from the collections of paper from SD Conferences.

Using the interactive smart board, the presentation runs smoothly and could create an interactive discussion by changing model’s variable directly from the board.

Prof Martin Kunc Seminar & Discussion on SD

Professor Martin Kunc from Warwick Business School, The University of Warwick, UK, has spare his time to visit SEMS lab during his time in Indonesia. The visit purpose is sharing knowledge and research opportunities regarding the use of System Dynamics (SD) in Strategy, and open up future collaborations with SD practitioners in Indonesia.

The session starts with a discussion on one of his paper regarding the implementation of system dynamics model on tackling human resource issues in a professional service firms (Kunc, M. Achieving a balanced organizational structure in professional services firms: some lessons from a modeling project. Systems Dynamics Review 24, 2008). The discussion is the followed by a short presentation on possible research directions on System Dynamics based on resource based strategic view.

International Workshop System Analysis and Modelling for Green Economy

President’s Delivery Unit for Development Monitoring and Oversight (UKP-PPP) in collaboration with the School of Business and Management ITB (SBM ITB) has conducted “The 2nd International Workshop on Systems Modelling: System Analysis and Modelling for Green Economy”. The main keynote speaker is Professor Dr. Pavel Kabat, the Director & CEO of International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, Austria. IIASA is an international research organization that conducts policy-oriented research into problems that are too large or too complex to be solved by a single country or academic discipline.

As an invited presenter, Pak Akhmad presented his on going research “Modeling the impacts of Indonesia’s REDD+ Initiatives to the Biodiesel Targets in the Green Economy Framework using System Dynamics”.

SEMS Lab Software Upgrading

Today we started to upgrade some of our lab software by installing Powersim Studio 9 to replace our Studio 2005.

We  also add a collection of new modeling tools such as Anylogic University Version a multi approach modeling software based on Java, Decision Tools Suites for enhancing our Financial Modeling capabilities and SIMA Pro a Life Cycle Analysis software to support sustainability analysis in our lab.

We hope to expand the field of our research with this new tools.

SEMS at ICMS 2011 – Thailand

Two of our researchers, Armand Omar and Aziiz Sutrisno, was presenting at th 4th International Conference on Modelling and Simulation, Phuket, Thailand on April 25-26, 2011. Both of their papers were among 179 paper selected from 512 paper submissions, representing 35% acceptance rate.

Pak Armand presented his research with Pak Komarudin on “Combination of Dummy Department and Wheel Structure Representation for Facility Layout Problems with Empty Space”.

Pak Aziis presented his research with Pak Akhmad on “Systems Dynamics Model for Understanding Contributions of Biodiesel Industry in Indonesia”
