U Theory Learning Journey – Stage 1

Theory U: Leading from the future as it emerges.

In his book, Theory U, Otto Scharmer invites us to see the world in new ways—and to learn from the future as it emerges. It all hinges on our attention. “If I attend this way, it emerges that way.” But what often keeps us from “attending” is what Scharmer calls our blind spot”¦the inner place from which each of us operates. Unless we become aware of that blind spot—both as individuals and as communities and larger systems—we won’t be able to successfully address the pressing issues and challenges of our time. (Excerpts from the presencing institute)

We want to expand the knowledge of our lab assistants, therefore we are conducting a small discussion regarding theory U, with Mrs. Ernie Widianty, in our lab. The stage 1 discussion, mainly act as an Icebreaking Session, to get to know each other, before dwelling into the details of Theory U. The 2nd stage would be a field trip to the museum of declaration of indonesia’s independence, as a sensing journey. The museum was chosen due to Independence Day Spirit of August 17 in Indonesia.
